Welcome to Expat Water Cooler
At Expat Water Cooler we are constantly adding new ways for you to find job around the world. We are adding a company section to our site so you can find jobs by individual companies. You can always go to our job search page to find jobs all over the world in the industry you are skilled in. Our plans for the company page is to integrate the companies in to the jobs by location and categories. This way in the future you will have all of these features tied into each other. We already have a lot of clearance jobs listed on here and our plan is to create a section just for clearance jobs. We would like to thank our growing user base for its continued support as our website continues to go through changes that will allow us to provide you with the information you are looking for.
Members Area
We have also added a members section where you can add a profile, pictures, and create a friends list. We did this so our registered users have a place they can network with other expats and recruiters who join our site. You may start groups and discussions about various topics but do not add any hateful or offensive comments, do not add pornographic pictures to your profiles or groups, and do not place add links or we will suspend your privileges. We do allow you to add links to your own websites if you think our users would find it useful and links to other websites you think our users may want to visit. If we see an add link though it will be deleted. You can join our site with your facebook account if you wish. We know there are a lot of social sites out there and the least amount of passwords and log in names you need to remember the better. Enjoy the site and remember, "The world is your sand box. So dig in."
Articles
You will find articles for expats on various subjects by going to the Article section of the site located on the top menu. You will see the Article tab and various subjects below it when you mouse over it. We try to cover as many subjects as possible so our users can find helpful information. We have articles that give advice to expats and those looking to start a career living overseas. In the same section you will find articles about working overseas as well. We have some articles posted about travel and are adding sections about various locations around the world. We know that you may have experiences you want to share so if you would like to have an article posted on Expat Water Cooler send your article to

For the Expat Italy can be a little price compared to other places around the world so when you get offered a job make sure you look for things like company housing, companies vehicle, or some kind of cost of living allowance. On the UBS report Milan and Rome are in the top 25 most expensive cities regarding housing. Making sure your salary will cover your daily expenses and still allow you to pay existing bills is very important. You will no doubt want to make sure you are able to build up some kind of savings while working overseas so ensure you will have enough left over to start or continue a good savings plan.
Housing Costs
A furnished four room apartment in Milan will run you between $4,960 and $2,680 while in Rome you will pay between $4,710 and $1,740. A three room unfurnished apartment in Milan will cost between $2,220 and $1,500 and in Rome a price of $2,880 on the high end is a bit pricier than in Milan but on the low end Rome comes in a lot cheaper at $1,180. The further you get away from the city the cheaper the housing gets.

Best Place All Around To Visit In The Philippines
Cebu is located in the Philippines south of Manila and is starting to become a more popular destination for business and tourism each year. Cebu Island is laid back and has a night life comparable to Manila at over half the price. The cost of hotels and resorts in Cebu City are a little cheaper than Manila but the huge savings comes from the lower cost of living. Whether you are going clubbing, taking a tour, or just going out for a nice dinner you will spend about half as much as you would in Manila.
Taxi Service
Another great thing about Cebu is the taxi service. As a tourist chances are that you do not know your way around and need to take some form of public transportation. A taxi in Manila will not turn the meter on for you and will over charge you by 600% if you are a tourist. In Cebu they always turn on the meter and most of the time they do it before you even ask them to.
Friendly Locals
A place is only as good as its local population. Between Expats and the local Filipinos Cebu has a very friendly atmosphere for the tourist and business traveler. When you are walking down the street you are not surrounded by street merchants trying to sell you something every time you turn around although it does happen in some areas. You get to actually relax and enjoy your time there without having to say the words “no thanks” or “no” a thousand times a day.

Qatar is a country in the Middle East a lot of Expats decide to work in because it is safer than many other Middle Eastern countries like Iraq and Afghanistan and it is a little more liberal in some areas than places like Kuwait or Saudi Arabia. Being safer and a little more liberal jobs in Qatar pay a little less than most countries in that part of the world but the pay is significantly higher than places like Europe, U.S. and the UK for the same type of work. Doha, a city in Qatar, is on the UBS prices and earnings report for 2009 comparing it to seventy two other cities around the world.
Food Prices The cost of food based on a Western European diet is about middle of the road when rated against the other seventy two cities on the report. It comes out just slightly more costly than Sydney Australia.
Housing Costs When it comes to getting an apartment Doha has a high price tag on there housing. A furnished four room apartment runs between $5,580 and $4,210 where a unfurnished three room apartment runs between $2,560 and $1990. Getting a little smaller apartment can save some money and an expat will probably end up paying about $1,650 for a nice apartment that is either one or two bedrooms unfurnished.

When you look through job postings on various websites you you may have opened a few job descriptions that say a security clearance is required. If this is you I am sure at one point you have wondered how much more you could make if you had a DOD security clearance. How much more you can make with a clearance depends many things. How much demand is already out there for people with your skill set is one impotent factor. Another factor is how you would use the fact you have a security clearance to find work. Just like any other job your experience level in the area you are looking for a job in will have a lot to do with how much more you can make. What level of security clearance you have will also determine how much more you could make than someone without a security clearance.
How much demand there is for someone with your skills is a big part of how much you can make with a security clearance. If you can make big bucks without a security clearance because the demand is high for people with your skill set you can bet that companies who have positions to fill will pay a bit more for someone like you. If a company is looking for someone to fill a slot that requires a security clearance but there are a lot of people out there with that skill set that already has a DOD security clearance the company will not have to pay that person much more than the non-clearance job does.
